LA Radical Punks The Damed Drop New Self-Titled Album

California’s socially and politically charged all female punk three piece, The Damed, have dropped their debut self-titled album to universal praise from fans and absolute shock from their adversaries. Fronted by guitarist-vocalist Heather Hellskiss, bassist Suzanne Slade and drummer Watts Yoshizawa, the angular stricken guitar riffs soaked in chorus and fuzz feed the brooding driving bass lines that weave between the tom-ridden disco punk surf beats. The sarcastic, aggressive lyrics are thrusted at you like knives while still maintaining a comforting catchy melody.

The Damed write songs about feminism, equal rights and is fueled by angst caused by the Trump administration and their complicit allies. The album consists of 8 original songs that are as much Sonic Youth as they are Sleater-Kinney with Bikini Kill rocking the boat.

“We are very excited to release this album into the world! Political, social, and queer politics are important now more than ever in this dark climate. Our songs have 1 main common theme and that is to stand up for what you believe in, even if you are in the minority. Never let you voice be suppressed. There is great power in that. We also offer songs about love, loss and living in this digital age. We think most people can relate to these anthems and the negative effect it has on us both mentally and physically. We want to continue to expose the wrongdoings of the world and keep on fighting the good fight while offering a bit of hope and release thru our lyrics and riffs.”

The Damed’s debut album dropped on June 28, 2019 via A Diamond Heart Production (Dashgo Distribution). The record was recorded by Manny Nieto (The Breeders, Health, The Soft Pack) at Total Annihilation Studios and was mixed and mastered by Vanessa Silberman (The Kills, Ramonda Hammer, Wavebreaker) at A Diamond Heart Production.

Expect to hear a lot more from The Damed in the coming months as they take this battle cry of an album to the uneasy masses and throw it in the faces of those in power.

Electro-Industrial Band NEON INSECT Announces The Release Of New Moscow Underground

Digital/tape release, August 30; CD Release, September 15

August 13, 2019 – German electronic/industrial artist NEON INSECT is pleased to announce the release of their highly-anticipated full-length release, New Moscow Underground.

For fans of: Ministry, Skinny Puppy & Front 242.

Neon Insect, now under new licensing agreement with New Dark Ages, will release New Moscow Underground on CD on September 15. First pressing limited to 100 copies in digipack format.

New Moscow Underground – A dystopian concept album by NEON INSECT

It’s the 26th year, after the New Russian Empire put an end to World War III, when nuclear bombs rained down on North America, burning down the biggest cities in the west and the south. It’s the 26th year after the Imperial forces raised their flags, took away the identity and hopes of a free country, and forced Orwell’s nightmare upon the last survivors.

Now, we’re living in New Moscow; a city guarded by cyborgs and fanatics who believe Stalin is still alive and kicking. Many of us have been exiled to Old Manhattan where we are left to fight for space and food. Even worse is that our children have been taken away to be raised as the workforce to produce cruel war machines.

“New Moscow Underground” is a story told through songwriting (“Dear Cyborg”), edgy industrial tracks (“This Is Our City,” “h4CX”), and also calm and thought-provoking songs (“Mazerunner,” “Blossom”).  If you allow it, the mixture of brutal and aggressive tracks with sad, yet hopeful pieces will create a soundtrack that transports you into the world as a cyborg or a rebel yourself, thus pulling your mind directly into the action of New Moscow.

“…a fantastic and powerful romp through electro-industrial, IDM, ambient, and cinematic sounds. It’s harsh, it’s calming, it’s panicked, it’s destructive, but most of all it is easily one of the better listening experiences I’ve had this month.”

– Brutal Resonance

“(Glitches) shows both his ability to create atmospheric soundscapes with stomping dance beats, as well as, appropriately, glitch-inspired tracks. Musically, there is a lot going on in these songs – lots of quality synth sounds, interesting percussion, and excellent accents without ever becoming too much or becoming cluttered.”

– ReGen Magazine

NEON INSECT is an alias of the German industrial musician, visual artist and audio engineer Nils Sinatsch.  He was born in 1987, on January 30th in The Hague (Netherlands). As a young child, Sinatsch received lessons in playing the trumpet and french horn. He played in several orchestras before he started composing industrial music at the age of 17 in 2004.

In 2006, he signed his first record deal at Koi Records, as member of the Industrial project Eternal Nightmare. He released three LPs and several smaller releases since then, as well as remixes for European dark electro pioneers such as Leaether Strip (“Japanese Bodies”) and The Eternal Afflict (“San Diego”).

Throughout his career, Nils Sinatsch played many concerts within the Gothic subculture, before he started to pursue a career as a freelance composer for radio plays and video games in 2012.

In 2015 he was hired by indie game developer W3 Studios to compose the soundtrack for their game “Abatron.”  He left the studio in September 2017 after completion of the soundtrack.

With Glitches (2018) Nils Sinatsch released a mainly electronic album including several collaborations, featuring vocals by Claus Larsen (Leaether Strip), Twill Distilled and himself, as well as a remix by talented french producer Enlia.

On August 30, 2019 a new concept album New Moscow Underground will be released on cassette and digital formats.  Thanks to a new licensing deal with New Dark Ages, Neon Insect will see its first CD release (ltd. 100) for New Moscow Underground.  “Fist, Hit, Cracking Bones” is the first single taken from this album.

Synthrock Band IRIS Announces The Release Of SIX Via Dependent Records

Available on CD, ltd. edition LP and digital formats everywhere August 23

August 5, 2019 – Influential synthrock band IRIS proudly announces their long-awaited return with their new release, Six.  IRIS’ album Six releases on Aug 23rd, 2019.

For fans of: Depeche Mode, Mesh & De/Vsion

While other synth-pop projects die to write that one hit and make it as danceable and catchy as possible, IRIS writes songs that seem to come with qualities naturally built within. The authentic feel and honesty of their compositions immediately contradicts any impression of shallowness. Rather, IRIS have an alternative-like quality to them, that always makes you wonder why these songs are so incredibly immersive.

IRIS, as a band, is difficult to pigeonhole. Mixing Depeche Mode-era synth, angular guitars, and an introspective writing style doesn’t sound that unique.

On their 6th full-length album, the North American duo consisting of Reagan Jones (vocals), and Andrew Sega (keyboards, production) prove once more that they are able to slowly evolve, yet still rely on their natural strengths – without repeating themselves or boring their audiences. This starts with the amazing vocals of Reagan Jones, that always impress with their natural, yet almost ethereal, ability to convey all the emotion embedded within IRIS’ music. His talents works on both worlds, on record and live – a satellite broadcasting a delicate message from far away.

Six is available on CD, 12″ limited vinyl, as well as a rare 36 Page hardcover artbook with 7-Track bonus disc, including unreleased songs and remixes by MESH, Neuroticfish and Solar Fake.

Reagan Jones (vocals)

Andrew Sega (keyboards, production)

IRIS started in the late 90’s, when singer Reagan Jones and original keyboardist Matt Morris met while studying in Texas. They aimlessly played cover songs at local bars until one day they found the formula which would be the genesis of their debut album, DisconnectDisconnect was an 80’s influenced gem and spawned the club classic “Annie, Would I Lie To You?”

In 2002, Reagan had a chance meeting with keyboardist and producer Andrew Sega. The pair quickly hit it off, and in 2003 produced Awakening.  This sophomore album brought in notes of Underworld-esque electronics, heavy ambience, and thicker rhythms.  IRIS continued through the decade, releasing the more rock-oriented Wrath (2005), the remix EP/DVD Hydra (2008), and the dark, bracing Blacklight (2011).  After Blacklight, though, it appeared the flame of IRIS might burn out. A 20-date US tour caused internal tensions to flare up, and both Reagan and Andrew decided to quietly go their separate ways.

Two years went by without a sign of life from the band.

In the end, it was a chance email from Swedish promoter Sebastian Hess that caused the spark, asking the band if they’d do a one-off gig in Gothenburg.  After thinking about it, the duo agreed to dust off the keyboards for one last show. It was a smashing success. The seed was planted which would eventually lead to the brand-new album, Radiant.  The theme of starting over permeates the eleven tracks of the new album, from first single “Phenom” to the pressing groove of “Cries of Insanity.”  Analog sounds collide with wide, spacious ambiences. Inward-looking lyrics talk of solitude and change.

After a longer hiatus on social media channels, the IRIS-satellite unexpectedly reports back to their home base with their new album, Six.  The notion of a remote satellite suddenly starting to broadcast again from somewhere outer space is not only a metaphor that works well due to the media absence of the band, but also fits with the logic of Iris as the project stemming from “far out” within the synthpop genre.  IRIS stand way out from the herd of their genre competitors not only in terms of quality, but also in terms of style and mission.

Perhaps the biggest quality of Six — The immersion within a warm, coherent cosmos of outstanding electronic music. Somewhere, out there in space, there is warmth.

Electro-Industrial Artist SPANKTHENUN Reveals Their MIND CONTROL EP & Leaether Strip Remix Visualizer

August 8, 2019:  USA electro/industrial artist SPANKTHENUN proudly announces the release of their digital EP, Mind Control.  The EP features remixes by Leaether Strip and iVardensphere.   Also revealed is the new visualizer clip for the Leaether Strip remix of the song, “Rotting Meat.”

This is the second of three releases leading up to the full-length Initial Decay Control  release.  The deepest cut on this release is the long unreleased live favorite “Spiderbaby”… this, a new glitchy interpretation of the track inspired by the cult classic movie TETSUO: THE IRON MAN.

For fans of: Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and KMFDM

“It’s a rarity in this scene to have a band or project that perfectly exemplifies both insanely hard work and professional, quality output.   SPANKTHENUN does exactly that.  Simply put, SPANKTHENUN  is a swift kick in the balls of electronic/industrial music.” –

SPANKTHENUN is an electro/industrial group focused on bringing big catchy beats, hooky synth lines and catchy lyrics to dark music. Sometimes you will get pulsing EBM designed to shake the club, like the collaboration with legendary EBM band Leæther Strip, “Rotting Meat (Mind Control).” Or you will get an old-school Industrial beat programmed like a trap/hip hop beat with a vocal track reminiscent of early goth and industrial records from decades past, like “The Clock” off of their initial release Regression Complex now on Spotify and iTunes.

SPANKTHENUN doesn’t plan to release music in the traditional cadence of single, single and then album. SPANKTHENUN will release smaller EPs and singles to highlight themes and concepts. No filler here, all meat! Only massive beats!

Releases will also come via social media and YouTube or releases directly to radio shows. SPANKTHENUN will release videos and cuts of unreleased songs and then will pull them from the public forever. Right now you can hear exclusive remixes only through certain playlists on streaming services and on YouTube.  The bootleg is back! SPANKTHENUN will release unofficial remixes and reconstructs of other musicians songs too. Right now you can hear the blistering club banger of GOD MODULE’s – “First Last Wish,” unofficial, not approved, reworked and reimagined by SPANKTHENUN… only on social channels.

SPANKTHENUN is working with some of the most respected names in the Industrial/EBM/Electro business, as well as hip hop and EDM/House producers to develop a unique energetic and exciting new sound.

THE SHRIEKS Release Dazzling Visual Music Video for “Synaptic Free Zone”

Alternative Rock Band THE SHRIEKS has released the visually intense music video for their politically charged single, “Synaptic Free Zone,” off of their April released LP, Toxygen.

“‘Synaptic Free Zone’ is a fun song about something that is not so fun.

The reality that we are all sheep following a blind destiny ordained by giant corporations that manipulate and orient us in ways that suit their business model, which is..’Don’t question, just follow, consume, and continue to be just a small number in their algorithm of pawns and deception’.

The Synapse is a junction between two nerve cells, consisting of a minute gap across which impulses pass by diffusion of a neurotransmitter. If we’re not thinking for ourselves we are in essence ‘Synaptic Free’.” – Luis Accorsi

Toxygen is relevant to our times and original, incredible music. It takes us further into being a protest band, but not all our music has to do with the state of the world. It has to do with the state of us as humans: in love, distraught, downtrodden, happy. Our tracks are about never being apathetic. We make our feelings known, and what comes from the heart, gets to the heart.
