Texas based hard rock band BLACKTOP MOJO has announced PledgeMusic campaign to help fund their upcoming third full length album.

Fans can pre-order a selection of items including signed copies of the new album, exclusive t-shirts, fishing with the band, hangouts, and even listing their name in the album jacket.

“As independent artists, everything we do is fan-funded. We don’t have a record label loaning us a ton of money to make a record. With that, comes some financial pitfalls, but it also means NOBODY tells us how to make music for you guys and we think that’s pretty cool!”

A hard-driving Southern rock unit based out of Palestine, Texas, Blacktop Mojo’s fiery blend of post-grunge, classic rock, and metal falls somewhere between Soundgarden, Black Stone Cherry, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Founded in 2012 by front-man Matt James and drummer Nathan Gillis, the band eventually morphed into a five-piece with the additions of bass player Matt Curtis and guitarists Ryan Kiefer and Kenneth Irwin. They released their debut album, I Am, in 2014, followed by a heavy bout of touring that saw the group sharing the stage with a wide array of heavy hitters, including Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Candlebox, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Shaman’s Harvest, Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd, and Drowning Pool.

In 2017, the band teamed up with Muscle Shoals producer Jimmy Johnson for their highly anticipated sophomore outing Burn the Ships. The album was released via the band’s label, Cuhmon Records, in March of that year to critical acclaim, and it’s first single, “Where The Wind Blows” reached #27 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, while the band was on its first U.S. tour that fall. Through that tour, they landed a slot on 2018’s Rock Fest, featuring headliners Disturbed, Incubus, and Godsmack, among many other industry leading hard rock acts.

At the beginning of 2018, the band has started work on its third full length release, as well as touring to support the second radio single from, Burn The Ships.

Blacktop Mojo Releases Official Video for “Where The Wind Blows” Off New LP

Seamlessly blending melody with adrenaline fueled, heavy rock and roll, Blacktop Mojo draws in everyone from old metal heads to people whose radio dials have never left top 40 stations. With soaring, gritty vocals and impeccably blended heavy guitar grooves set around a raucous southern stomp, Blacktop Mojo’s live shows are sure to leave fans’ screaming at the top of their lungs with metal horns in the air.

It was a blast making this video. We got to do it with a bunch of our friends from our home town of Palestine, TX in the bar where we played our first show. It basically turned into a two day party and the fun we had really comes through in the video. – Blacktop Mojo

Formed in the final weeks of 2012, Blacktop Mojo began cutting their teeth in the numerous country venues that Texas has to offer, but the guys never quite felt like they belonged. With each song they wrote, the vocals got less twangy and the sound from the amps became more gravelly and distorted until the guys had found their own unique blend of heavy southern rock. Through touring, the band has played with many national acts such as Bon JoviSammy HagarAaron LewisDaryl “DMC’ McDanielsCandleboxDrowning PoolPuddle Of MuddSmile Empty SoulAudiotopsy, and Whiskey Myers.

After running the highways for two years in support of their debut album, I Am(2014), in July of this year the band loaded their gear in the van and made a trip to Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, as well as FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL to make their sophomore effort entitled, Burn The Ships. In addition to the producer of the band’s first record, Philip Mosley, the band brought in co-producer, Jimmy Johnson of the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound studios as well as his long time engineer, Steve Melton (Lynyrd SkynyrdThe Rolling StonesBob Seger) to bring a seasoned sonic quality to their brand of raw, grungy rock. Burn The Ships was released March 10th of 2017 garnering critical acclaim in both US and European press outlets including Team Rock’s Classic Rock Magazine, who is quoted as saying “Blacktop Mojo might just be America’s next big rock band.”

Kenny Dubman Releases Lead Single Off Debut Solo LP, ‘Reckless Abandon’

New Jersey Guitarist and Songwriter Kenny Dubman (Prophet) has released “Ain’t Too Late For Memphis” off of his debut, solo LP Reckless Abandon. “Ain’t Too Late For Memphis” and Reckless Abandon are available to order on his Official SiteiTunes, and Amazon.

” ‘Ain’t Too Late For Memphis’, the leadoff track from Reckless Abandon’, is a comeback anthem. It’s the story of a musician that’s been out of the game for a long while and longs to break back in, but is not quite sure about how to make it happen….yes, it’s a bit autobiographic! ‘Memphis’ is really just a metaphor for getting off your ass and jumping in with both feet, which is definitely the route I took to make the album. Wrote the songs, rehearsed the band, and got in the studio as quickly as I could. Full steam ahead with reckless abandon, literally and figuratively!” – Kenny Dubman

Reckless Abandon is the first solo effort from NJ native and lifelong six-stringer Kenny Dubman, a veteran of 3 albums with NJ melodic rockers Prophet. Loaded with earthy, organic 70’s influenced hard rock, Reckless Abandon will most certainly fill a gaping void in today’s musical climate. “I wanted to make a song record first; making a guitar record was never really part of the equation” says Dubman, though guitar fans will likely want for nothing on this offering. Blending elements of Bad CompanyDeep PurpleKansas, and Lynyrd Skynyrd with subtle hints of QueenOzzyMontrosePink Floyd, and RushReckless Abandon pays homage to it’s 70’s rock roots while still forging an identity of it’s own….due in no small part to Dubman’s powerful, raspy vocal performances. Lyrically, Reckless Abandontackles some deep and dark subject matter; not much boy-meets-girl fare on this record. “I’m not sure where these song ideas came from; I feel like they were channeled through me rather than originated within….like I didn’t really write them. I think the great Tony Joe White sums this syndrome up best: ‘….the music is all given to me anyway. Writing and playing and doing music not for the benefit of having a number one record, just to let it out of your soul, means somebody has fed it down to you.’ That’s right on the money”. Origin non-withstanding, Kenny Dubman has created (or channeled) something special on this record.

Do it justice. PLAY IT LOUD.
